Greyfriars Kirk is able to offer four spaces for hire: GREYFRIARS KIRK, plus a sanctuary and two large halls at the KIRK o' FIELD CENTRE (former Kirk o' Field Parish Church at The Pleasance).
The Kirk is an ideal venue for lectures, seminars, conferences, art exhibitions. The adjacent Grassmarket Centre has modern break-out spaces for large groups that can also be hired.
This magnificent venue has also been used for press launches, BBC TV and radio programmes and is often used as a recording facility for CD production.
In addition the Kirk hosts many social functions such as wedding receptions, wakes, dinners, dances, ceilidhs, drinks and retirement/family parties.
Greyfriars Kirk is an established performance venue in Edinburgh. With a perfect acoustic and flexible floor space, the Kirk can accommodate large numbers of performers and audiences alike. We have 18 2 x 1m platforms (36m2) to allow choirs and sections of the orchestra to be elevated at either end of the Kirk to suit organisers' preferences. The Collins organ is situated at the West end of the Kirk and we also have a portable pipe chamber organ and a grand piano. Bespoke flood and spot lighting is erected on the pillars to suit requirements.
Hosting some sixty to seventy concerts a year, the Kirk is hired as a venue by visiting orchestras, choirs and soloists. The venue has also been used for drama, opera and jazz festivals.
We have recently mentioned by the Glasgow Herald in its review of the Edinburgh International Festival 2014. Click here to find out what they thought.
