Richard and Kate Frazer return from Uganda

Richard and Kate Frazer have recently returned from a very successful visit to Uganda. They visited the Railway Children School in Kampala and the Hope and Glory Foundation associated with the school. In Uganda, only primary education is provided free by the state. For many of the poorest there is little chance of any education after age 12.

Hope and Glory is a vocational centre that provides training in dress making and crafts, as well as business skills in order to give young women a chance to create employment for themselves as they grow to adulthood. It is this to support this project that Kate undertook her “Swimaloch” challenge. Whilst they were in Uganda a dozen new sewing machines were purchased for the project and they were able to see the impact that fundraising in Scotland is having on the ground.

Thanks to the generosity and support of so many people and, in particular, the support of pupils of St Thomas of Aquins School who visited Uganda last year, Kate and Richard were able to hand over about £3000 to Hope and Glory and the Railway Children School.
