Sunday 26th August. Every year with our ecumenical partners, St Columba’s by the Castle and Augustine United Church we hold an outing and act of worship in the ancient abbey church that still stands on this historic island in the Firth of Forth. The island was a stopping place for pilgrims travelling to St Andrews and journeying between Iona and Lindisfarne and this year we are delighted to have as our preacher for this service Martin Palmer, the General Secretary of the Alliance of Religions and Conservation, who is the co –founder of the international and multi –faith Green Pilgrim Network. Martin has recently published a book Sacred Land Sacred Land: Decoding Britain's extraordinary past through its towns, villages and countryside and will be speaking on this at the Edinburgh International Book Festival on the 23rd of August.

We meet at South Queensferry at 10am for the 10.30 ferry. We return about 1pm

Most people take a packed lunch.
